Distance: 109 miles Brushy Mountain loop is really just an excuse to go ride Hwy 116 (a.k.a. Devil's Triangle) near Petros, Tennessee. Hwy 116 is a 30 mile section that will leave you mentally exhausted if you are a serious sportbike rider. Be sure to fuel up before starting. There are few gas stations until after Grimsley. The route starts at Hwy 153 and Hwy 111 and eventually turns into Sunk Cane Road, which can be a little rough in spots. There are three "hard" right-hand turns that will surprise you and it can get a little narrow at some parts. Turning left on Hwy 164 (north) takes you to Hwy 185. The road through Wilder is a great road with very little traffic and only a few side roads. A brief slow point through Twinton and then things get fun. South on 127 gets a little boring through Clarkrange, but it gets livelier a few miles down Hwy 62 east. South through Wartburg towards Oak Ridge and Hwy 116 is on the left. Running over Brushy Mountain and into old coal mining country will put a grin on your face. Road quality is fair to excellent most of the way. Definitely one of our favorites.
